Class Descriptions

 

 

 Learning at Yarnings

 

Beginner: Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

 

Advanced Beginner: Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

 

Intermediate: Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work. 

 

And, remember, we ask that Yarnings supplies be used in Yarnings classes. It only makes sense!

 

 

 

Groups
 

 

Friday Morning Knit Group – Bring along any knitting project for a little help while socializing with others. If you know in advance that you plan to attend this group, please call the store to let us know.

 

Cost:                                                    $10.00 per Session

 

Time/Date/Instructor:             Friday Sept 8,15,22,29,and October 6, 13, 27 from 11-1 with Sandra

 

Skill Level:                                        Beginner to Intermediate

 

Saturday Morning Knit Group – This group usually meets twice a month and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen while socializing with other knitters. Please call the store to check on available spots for this class.

 

Cost:                                               $10.00 per Session

 

Time/Date/Instructor:         Saturdays: Sept 9 and 16 and Oct 7 and 28  from 10-12 with Sandra

 

Skill Level:                                   Beginner /Intermediate

 

Thursday Morning Knit Group- This is a wonderful time to get help on a project or just to knit with friends.  Build a skill in close contact with someone who can keep you moving forward!

Cost:                                            $10 per session

Skill Level:                                All levels welcome 

 

 

Wednesday Afternoon Knit Group – This group meets weekly and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen.

Classes

 

 

 Beginning Knitting- This two-session class teaches the basics of knitting.  The knit stitch, purl stitch, cast on, and bind off will be covered. Students will practice on a simple project that incorporates the skills taught.

Cost:                                                $35

Date/Time/Instructor:              Saturdays, Sept 23 and 30 or Saturdays, October 28 and Nov 4

Skill Level:                                      Absolute Beginner

                  

 

Beginning Weaving- This four-part beginning course includes instruction in warping, weaving techniques, calculations for sizing and yarn usage, color planning, and finishing.  The cost includes rental of the 15" Cricket loom, instruction, and the first warp of the loom.

Cost:                                        $70

Skill Level:                             Absolute Beginner

 

 

2 Color Brioche-  This is an introductory class in this wonderful two sided knitting technique. Work in the round to make your choice of cowl or hat.

Skill Level:                             Advanced Beginner

 

Building with Lace-  The newest installment of Michelle Hunter's Building series is here! Building in Lace is a beautiful rectangular shawl knit in the lovely Rylie (baby alpaca, linen and silk!). Learn new skill like the provisional cast on, Japanese lace stitch work, double yarn-overs and more.

Skill Level: Intermediate

 

 

 Entrelac Knitting- This three-session class will cover entrelac, a knitting technique used to create a textured diamond pattern resembling basketweave.  Knitters can choose to knit a scarf, pillow, or purse. The third session will include some basic finishing instruction for making the pillow or purse.

Skill Level:                                Advanced Beginner, Intermediate

 

 Fingering Weight Combo Hat -You've probably heard of the messy bun hat, it's the talk of Ravelry!  This one has an extra dimension.  Knit with an I-cord drawstring, it can be worn as a cowl or a slouchy hat!  it is sure to become your gifting go-to!

Time/Date/Instructor:                   Thursday, Oct 5 and 19 from 11:30-1 with Margaret

Skill Level:                                            Advanced Beginner

 

 

 

 Lots o' Socks- Always wanted to learn to knit socks, but didn't want to struggle with double-pointed needles?  This class teaches a traditional sock construction using two circular needles.  See the ease and quickness!

Cost:                                                     $45

Skill Level:                                          Advanced Beginner
