 Learnings at Yarnings

 

 

 

Beginner: Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

 

Advanced Beginner: Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

 

Intermediate: Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work. 

 

And, remember, we ask that Yarnings supplies be used in Yarnings classes. It only makes sense!

 

 

 

Groups
 

 

Friday Morning Knit Group – Bring along any knitting project for a little help while socializing with others. If you know in advance that you plan to attend this group, please call the store to let us know.

Skill Level:                                        Beginner to Intermediate

 


Mary Beth’s Open Knit Group- This group meets about once a month and is for beginning and intermediate knitters. Mary Beth is available for help with projects that students have chosen. The atmosphere is light and social  Come have some fun!!

 

Cost:                                               $10 per Session

 Skill Level:                                 Beginner to Intermediate

 

Kids Knit Club- This group is geared for young knitters who have basic knitting knowledge.  The group is tailored to help young knitters expand their skills.  Students work on individual projects.

 

Cost:  $10

Skill Level:  Beginner

 

Saturday Morning Knit Group – This group usually meets twice a month and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen while socializing with other knitters. Please call the store to check on available spots for this class.

Classes

 

Beginner Knits :   Learn the basics of knitting in this tw0-session class including  cast on, knit and purl stitches, and binding off.  Time permitting, we will also explore a few basic combinations of knit and purl.

Beginner Knits:  This three-session course will teach you the knit and purl stitches, casting on and binding off, and use of these basics to create simple projects.

Skill Level:                                            Abslute Beginner

 

Beginning Weaving- This is a comprehensive course in the basic techniques of weaving on a rigid heddle loom.  Learn dressing the loom, yarn calculations, weaving tips and pointers, finishing and color experimentation.  Rent the loom from us for the duration of the course.

Skill Level:                                               Absolute Beginner

 

Building Blocks:  This ongoing course teaches various stitch patterns and the techniques that produce them. The course is self-paced and,in the end, the blocks that you knit are joined to create a beautiful heirloom blanket.  What a fun way to improve your skills!

Building in Color II– If you loved Building Blocks, you will love Building in Color. This is a course designed to help you master the basics of color knitting one strip at a time. Intarsia, knit below, mosaic knitting, and elongated stitch patterns are some of the skills taught.  Move at your own pace and watch your blanket grow!

Bunny Class:   Yes, it's back!!  Our favorite bunny returns for its annual spring appearance!  Come relax and smile as you construct this favorite giift or decoration.  The homework for this one-session class is to come pick out your yarn and then knit the bunny body before class.  Hoppy knitting!

Button Bracelet - Learn to make this vintage-inspired bracelet, using just a few simple techniques.  Pull out Grandma's button box and have some fun!

 Skill Level:                                    Absolute Beginner

 

Introduction to Brioche Knitting: This one-session class explores the basics of two-color slip stitch knitting.  The results are dramatic and look more complicated than the effort required.  Join Margaret as she shares the skills for a simple hat.

Skill Level:                                           Advanced Beginner

 

Spring Chickens:   They are the talk of the town!   Esther, Enid, and Ernie will bring humor to any spring decor!  The homework for his one-session class is to pick up your kit from the shop and knit the body before class.  Then join the flock for the rest of the knitting and the finishing.

Spring Pillow:  In this two-session class, students will knit a happy pillow festooned with bunniesfollowing an easy stitch pattern.  The pillow will be embellished and finished in the second class.  Just in time for spring decorating.
