 May / June Classes

Learnings at Yarnings

Lots of choices! Lots of fun! Learn new skills in our small, friendly classes.  Just check your skill level, select a class and call the shop to reserve your space.

In case of cancellation, store credit will be issued up to 48 hours before the first class session.

Absolute Beginner:  Is brand new to craft.

Beginner:  Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off.  For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

Advanced Beginner:  Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

Intermediate:  Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work.

Beginner Knit for Adults- A two session class for the very beginning knitter. You will learn to cast on, the knit stitch, purl stitch, and to cast off, choose from fingerless gloves or garter stitch cowl.

Skill Level:                               Absolute Beginner

Friday Morning Knit Group – This group meets on Friday mornings and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen or ideas for new creations while socializing with other knitters. 

Cost:                                        $10.00 per Session

Skill Level:                                Beginner /Intermediate

Summer Flies Shawlette- Learn to knit this pretty shawlette in time for summer.  You will work the shawl in sections learning a variety of stitch motifs as you go.

Tuesday Morning Knit Group – This group meets weekly and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen.

Cost:                                        $10.00 per Session

Skill Level:                                Beginner /Intermediate

Hairpin Lace – Everything old is new again and hairpin lace is no exception.  With the use of a loom, crochet hook and yarn or ribbon, you will learn this simple technique.  Construct multiple strips, weave them together and make garments, trims and more. Single Session Classes

Skill Level:                               Beginner Crochet / Some crochet knowledge is helpful.

Saturday Morning Knit Group – This group usually meets twice a month and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen while socializing with other knitters.  Please call the store to check on available spots for this class.

Skill Level:                                Beginner /Intermediate

Beginner Knitting for Adults - A three-part class for the very beginning knitter. You will learn to cast on, the knit stitch, purl stitch, to cast off and some finishing techniques. The best part is that this beginning class will leave you with various scarves.

Skill Level:                               Absolute Beginner

Lots O’Socks - This beginner sock class teaches sock-making at its finest!  Everything from use of double-pointed needles, ribbing, and the dreaded (not anymore!!) turning of the heel.  It’s easier than you think!  You’ll even learn the kitchner stitch, a versatile finishing skill.  Come get cozy!

Skill Level:                                Advanced Beginner

Tunisian Crochet - This is a techniques class.  You will learn the tunisian simple stitch (tss), the tunisian knit stitch (tks) and the tunisian purl stitch (tps). Also known as the afghan stitch, it has the look of knitting and weaving with the ease of crocheting.

Skill Level:                               Beginner / Some crochet experience is necessary.
