Class Descriptions

 

 

 Learning at Yarnings

 

Beginner: Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

 

Advanced Beginner: Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

 

Intermediate: Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work. 

 

And, remember, we ask that Yarnings supplies be used in Yarnings classes. It only makes sense!

 

 Private Lessons

We at Yarnings want you to find a learning environment that matches your style.  Our private lessons are inexpensive and offer a one-on-one session with one of our talented and friendly instructors.  These times can be tailored to your needs: beginning knitting or crochet, help finishing a particular project, help starting a project, help with a specific technique- it's all up to you!  Call us  to set up a time for you or a time for you and a friend!

 

Groups
 

 

Friday Morning Knit Group – Bring along any knitting project for a little help while socializing with others. If you know in advance that you plan to attend this group, please call the store to let us know.

 

Cost:                                                    $10.00 per Session

Skill Level:                                       Beginner to Intermediate

 

 

Tuesday Morning Knit Group This group meets weekly for help and inspiration.  Join others who enjoy chatting and sharing projects.

 

Cost:                                              $10 per session

Time/Date/Instructor:          Tuesdays March 5,12,19,26 and April 2,9,16,23,and 30 from 11-1 with Sandra

                                                          

Skill Level:                                   Beginner and Intermediate

 

 

Wednesday Night  Knit and Crochet Group – This group meets weekly and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen.

 

Cost:                                                   $10.00 per Session

Time/Date/Instructor:            Wednesdays, March 6,13,20,27 and April 3,10,17, and 24 from 6-8 with Rachel

Classes

Please call the store in advance to sign up for classes.  All class supplies will be available at the store for purchase.

 

 

 

Beginning Knit- This two-session class will have you knitting stylish projects.  The knit and purl stitches will be taught, along with casting on stitches and binding off your work.  Learn this life-long craft!

Cost:                                              $30 

Dates/Time/Instructor:        Saturdays April 13 and 27  from 10-11:30 with Sandra

Skill Level:                                   Absolute Beginner

 

Blocking Workshop-  Do you hear the phrase "block your project" and panic? Or at least wonder how to proceed?  We have some answers!  Join Rachel as she uses various types of projects to demonstrate the best ways to achieve a professional finished look.

Cost:                                               $15

Date/Time/Instructor:            Saturday, April 27 from 11-12 with Rachel

Skill Level:                                   All skill levels welcome

 

 

Fairytales Come True Poncho Knit-A-Long- This stylish poncho knit-a-long will be a great opportunity to learn some new techniques including single strand colorwork, twisted rib stitching, German short rows,  and a way to hide all of your colorwork ends without working them all in.  

Cost:                                                   $10 per session

Dates/Times/Instructor:          Fridays, February 15th, March 1st, 15th and 29th from 1:30-3:00

Skill Level:                                       Advanced Beginner

                               

 

Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving-  This four session course covers all  the beginning steps for basic weaving.  From warping the loom to calculating yarn yardage needed to learning basic weaving and finishing techniques,  this class will prepare you to use a rigid heddle loom efficiently.  The class fee includes instruction, loom rental fee, and the first warp on the loom.

Cost:                                                $70

Date/Time/ Instructor:            Sundays, March 24 and 31 and April 7 and 28 from 10-12 with Steph

Skill Level:                                      Beginner

 

Starry Night Blouse Crochet-Along-  This simple crochet top is made up of two main triangles with smaller sections added to even out the edges.  Easy, right?!  Yarn and gauge are flexible, making this project even more personal.  Join Rachel and have some fun adding asummer piece to your wardrobe!

Cost:                                               $10 per session
