Class Descriptions

 

 

 Learnings at Yarnings

 

 

 

Beginner: Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

 

Advanced Beginner: Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

 

Intermediate: Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work. 

 

And, remember, we ask that Yarnings supplies be used in Yarnings classes. It only makes sense!

 

 

 

Groups
 

 

Friday Morning Knit Group – Bring along any knitting project for a little help while socializing with others. If you know in advance that you plan to attend this group, please call the store to let us know.

 

Cost:                                                    $10.00 per Session

Skill Level:                                        Beginner to Intermediate

 

Saturday Morning Knit Group – This group usually meets twice a month and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen while socializing with other knitters. Please call the store to check on available spots for this class.

 

Cost:                                               $10.00 per Session

Classes

 

Basic Brioche- Knitters will learn the basic two-color brioche stitch in the round in this two-session class while working on  a hat or cowl.

Cost:  $30

Time/Date/Instructor:  Sundays, October 16 and 23 from 12:30-2 with Margaret

Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner

 

Beginner Knits- Learn casting on, knit and purl stitches, and binding off in this two-session class.  Students will also have the opportunity to work on a basic cowl in the round.

Cost:  $30

Times/Dates/Instructor:  Wednesdays, Sept 14 and 28 from 2-3:30 with Sandra

                                                Sundays, Sept 18 and 25 from 12:30-2 with Margaret

Skill Level:  Absolute Beginner   

                                                                

Blocking Workshop - You asked and we listened!  Join us for our first ever blocking workshop.  Blocking methods and tools will be explained and demonstrated.  Bring those problem finished objects and the pattern with you for specific advice at the end of the class.

 Cost:                                                $20

Bead Weaving-  Join us for an introductory bead weaving class!  The class includes preparation of a bead loom, basic patterning and finishing while working on a beautiful bracelet.

 

Cost:                                      $40

Times/Dates/Instructor:  Sundays, October 23 and 30 from 12-1:30  with Steph

Skill Level:                           Beginner 

 

Crocheted Pouch- Try basic crochet in this tw0-session class while working on a pretty zippered pouch.  Students will learn chain stitch, single crochet and working in the round.  Sandra will also discuss finishing your pouch with a lining and a zipper.

 Cost:  $35

Skill Level:  Absolute Beginner

 

Jack Be Littles- Knitters will complete a tiny, woolen pumpkin in class.   The pumpkins are worked in the round on double pointed needles.  Finishing is quick and easy!     

Cost:  $25

Skill Level:   Beginner 

       

Lots of Socks-  Have you always wanted to try sock knitting?  This is your chance!  This beginner class will take you through the basics of a classic sock from the cast on, the heel turn, foot shaping, and grafting of the toe seam.  Prepare to be addicted!

Cost:                                          $40

Skill Level:                             Advanced Beginner

 

Magic Loop-If double points aren't your favorite, come learn a new method of working in the round on  a long circular needle.  The goal of this two-session class is to have knitters complete a narrow infinity neck loop.

Cost:  $30

Time/Date/Instructor:  Wednesdays, October 5 and 19 with Sandra

Skill Level:  Beginner

 

Scripps Knit-A-Long- Join us for a fall sweater knit-a-long!  Scripps is a trendy pullover with a curved hem, oversized fit, and an all-over mesh fabric.  It is knit and seamed together using either Canopy Fingering or Cumbria Fingering by the Fibre Company.  Stop by to pick your yarn and color so it can be ordered in time for the October 8th start date.

Cost: $10 per session

Time/Date/Instructor:  Saturdays, October 8 and 22 and Nov 5 and 19 from 10-12 with Christina

Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner

 

 

Waiting for Rain- Knit a lovely garter and lace crescent shawl that uses an unusual short row lace technique.  The shawl takes two skeins, or 750 yards, or fingering weight yarn, and can be made with either one or two colors.  Some lace experience is recommended

Times/Dates/Instructor:    Thursdays, Sept 29 and October 13 and 27from 11-1 with Christina

Skill Level:                              Advanced Beginner/Intermediate

 

Wee Elves-Make a delightful little elf (or a few!) in this three part class.  Knitters will work in the round on double pointed needles and learn to do a few basic short rows.

 

Cost:  $40

Time/Date/Instructor:  Saturdays, Sept 24 and October 8 and 22 from 1-2:30 with Sandra

                                                   Fridays, Sept 30 and Oct 14 and 21 from 1:30-3 with Sandra
