Class Descriptions

 

 

 Learnings at Yarnings

 

 

 

Beginner: Knows the long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. For crocheting, knows single, half double, and double crochet stitches along with the slipstitch.

 

Advanced Beginner: Knows shaping, seaming and has followed some patterns and understands gauge.

 

Intermediate: Has completed a garment and has done some stitch work. 

 

And, remember, we ask that Yarnings supplies be used in Yarnings classes. It only makes sense!

 

 

 

Groups
 

 

Friday Morning Knit Group – Bring along any knitting project for a little help while socializing with others. If you know in advance that you plan to attend this group, please call the store to let us know.

 

Cost:                                                    $10.00 per Session

 

Time/Date/Instructor:             Fridays, March 3,10,17,and 24 and April 21, 28 from 11-1 with Sandra

 

Skill Level:                                        Beginner to Intermediate

 

Saturday Morning Knit Group – This group usually meets twice a month and is for beginner to intermediate level knitters. Students get help with projects they have chosen while socializing with other knitters. Please call the store to check on available spots for this class.

 

Cost:                                               $10.00 per Session

Skill Level:                                   Beginner /Intermediate

Classes

 

 

Beginning Weaving- This four-part beginning course includes instruction in warping, weaving techniques, calculations for sizing and yarn usage, color planning, and finishing.  The cost includes rental of the 15" Cricket loom, instruction, and the first warp of the loom.

Time/Date/Instructor:    Sundays, March 19, 26 and April 2 and 23  from 10-12 with Steph

 

Skill Level:                             Absolute Beginner

 

Bead Woven Bracelet-  Join us for an introductory bead weaving class!  The class includes preparation of a bead loom, basic patterning and finishing while working on a beautiful bracelet.

 

Cost:                                           $40

 

Times/Dates/Instructor:    Saturdays, April 1 and 8  from 1-3:30 with Steph

 

Skill Level:                                Beginner

 

Blocking Workshop-  This one-session workshop explores the details of blocking.  When to use blocking wires or just pins, when to wet block or steam, how to get that professional look for all your knits.

 

Cost:                                             $20

 

Times/Dates/Instructor:   Thursday, May 18 from 11-1, or Saturday, June 24 10-12 with Christina

 

Skill Level:                                    All knitters welcome

 

 

Bunny Class- Bring a knitted square to class and transform it into a sweet bunny, just in time for spring!

 

Cost:                                                 $25

Times/Dates/Instructor:        Friday, March 24 from 1:30-3:30 with Sandra

                                                             Saturday, April 1, from 2-4 with Sandra

 

Skill Level:                                   Beginner

 

 

Flax Sweater - Flax is a perfect first sweater project and is sized for infants to adults.  It is knit seamlessly from the top down, with just a touch of patterning to keep it interesting.

 

Cost:                                              $40

                                                             Saturdays, April 22, May 6 and 20 from 1-2:0 with Sandra

 

Skill Level:                                  Advanced Beginner

 

Know Your Yarn - This one-session workshop explores the attributes of various fibers and the implications for your knitting.  Learn how to read labels to help you make appropriate fiber choices for your projects.  Have fun learning about the truly exotic fibers that have been created.

 

Cost:                                                $20

Times/Dates/Instructor:       Saturday June 10 from 1-3, or Thursday, June 15 from 11-12, with Christina

Skill Level:                                     All are welcome

 

 

Lattice Lace Poncho KAL - This flattering poncho is the perfect light layer for cool summer nights when knit in Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool. It's simple enough for a first time knitter, but interesting enough to keep the more experienced entertained. Let us help you pick a color and get started in this Knit-A-Long style class.

 

Cost:                                           $10 a session

Skill Level:                               Advanced Beginner

 

 

Plethora KAL - Join our Knit-A-Long for this scrap-yarn scarf by our very own Christina! The original used an assortment of fingering and lace weight leftovers, but it can be adjusted to whatever you have stashed. Self striping yarns or mini skeins would also be fabulous choices for this piece. There will be a scale available to weigh your scraps, and our resident "Gradient Girl" can help you plan your color progression.

 

Cost:                                           $10 a session
